Can you remember the 80’s movie “Fame”?

I clearly remember it, because it is precisely when I met splendid Lori Singer, aka “Julie Miller”, that my passion for the cello started – the most beautiful instrument in the world – and since I’ve always loved singing, I couldn’t have chosen a better instrument considering its closeness to the human voice.

I had to convince my mother, I insisted for two years in order to make her sign me up for cello lessons. She wanted me to take piano lessons since we already had one at home, but my answer would always be the same: “NO, I want the cello or nothing at all”, and in the end I won.

At the beginning, my teacher Francesco Storino told my mother I was not suitable for the instrument because my hands were too small, but only after a month he called her back telling her I was the best at school, and from that moment on everything started.

In just 9 and a half years, I graduated from the Conservatory of Perugia, as a private student, and then I attended Master Classes held by Maestros Pepicelli, Shultis and Scano, and many others both in Italy and abroad.

I also obtained a degree in Chamber Music at the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory of Music in Rome, subsequently attending Master Classes with the Bernini Quartet, at the Roman Philharmonic Academy, and with the Pepicelli Duo.

Thanks to the cello, I had the chance to travel the world: I was in Austria with the “Junge Österreichische Philharmonie”, and then in France with the “Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée”, with which I performed in many countries of the Middle East, also visiting places that unfortunately do not exist anymore, like Palmira, a splendid city whose remains were located right in the middle of the desert.

Both as a solo artist and in various orchestras, I played in the Aula Magna of the University “La Sapienza” and “Roma3”, at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence, the Opera House of Spoleto (Todi, Narni, Terni, Assisi and Foligno), the Theater of Ferento, the Opera Theater of Sassari, at the Sala Sinopoli and the Sala Santa Cecilia of the Auditorium “Parco della Musica” in Rome, then in 2003 I passed the auditions for the “Gustav Mahler” Academy, and it was a truly life-changing experience!

Since 2005 I have also dedicated myself to teaching, and together with the Papillon Orchestra – that I founded with some friends – we have been working with youth aged from 4 to 20.

I obtained several teaching qualifications, and I am currently a cello teacher at the Ripi Institute in Frosinone.

Last but not least: I have recently embarked on an amazing experience with the Téchne Movie Trio, a group of remarkable women who play passionately and have fun together!
